I Never Thought I’d Be a “Mantra Guy”

I’ve never been a mantra guy.

They always felt a little forced and a little silly.

But lately, I’ve been focused on one thing: being present.

Enjoying the process. Letting go of distractions. Focusing on what actually matters.

I’ve noticed whenever I was present and at my best, I was doing three things.

I was focused on simplifying the task, slowing down, and single-tasking.

When I simplify, I think more clearly.

When I slow down, I feel more calm.

When I single-task, whether I’m writing, coaching, or just being with Kel, I show up better.

Not slightly better. Way better.

Better focus. Better energy. Better connection.

It feels like a cheat code for life.

Now, anytime I feel scattered, stressed, or pulled in too many directions, I come back to three words:

Simple. Slow. Single.

That’s it.

It’s not some magical phrase. But it brings me back to the moment.

And that has been a game changer.

I could tell you to try it. But people told me their mantras for years, and I always brushed them off.

So here’s a better challenge:

Create your own.

Figure out what grounds you. What makes you feel better, clearer, more dialed in.

Then say it out loud, and then, say it again when things start to spiral.

It might feel silly at first. But it might also bring you back to the life you actually want.

After all, it’s working for me. Might work for you too.

Favorite Photo of the Week

Last weekend, Kel and I were invited to the Montana Longhorn Ranch and had the full Montana experience! I branded my first cow, sipped a hand-picked Maker's Mark bourbon, and had a killer dinner.

Till next week, be kind, be curious and work hard.
